My client is hiring a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join their dynamic maintenance team in Cork. Location: Cork City Centre
Schedule: Monday to Friday (occasional weekend cover may be required)
Salary: Starting at €43,317.54, increasing up to €54,320.99, depending on experience

About the Role

You‘ll be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles to the highest safety and performance standards. Working as part of a skilled team, you‘ll ensure vehicles are fully operational, compliant, and ready for service.

What You‘ll Do

• Carry out routine and preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all fleet vehicles
• Proactively identify and resolve issues before they escalate
• Use tools, parts, and resources efficiently to minimise downtime
• Complete all repairs safely, accurately, and within agreed timelines
• Maintain accurate service and defect records
• Support apprentices with hands-on training and safe working practices
• Ensure vehicles are road-ready and presented in excellent condition
• Take part in ongoing technical training and upskilling opportunities
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental standards

What We‘re Looking For

✅ Essential:

• QQI Level 6 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or Construction Plant Fitting (or equivalent)
• Proven experience in a heavy vehicle maintenance environment
• Strong diagnostic, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
• Solid understanding of safety standards and inspection procedures
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

✅ Desirable (Not Essential):

• Bus Licence (Category D)
• Breakdown/Recovery experience
• Manual Handling, Air Conditioning, or Working at Heights certification
