Job Title: Junior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Industry: Construction – Residential and Small Commercial Fit-Outs

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Dublin, specialising in residential construction and small commercial fit-outs. The ideal candidate will assist in managing the costs and contracts related to construction projects, ensuring they are completed within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management:

    • Assist in preparing and analysing project cost estimates.
    • Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial guidelines.
    • Track and report on variations between estimated and actual costs.
    • Tendering and Procurement:
    • Support the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documentation.
    • Evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor contracts.
    • Contribute to the selection of subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.

Quantity Takeoff:

  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure comprehensive understanding of project requirements.

Contract Administration:

  • Assist in the preparation and administration of contracts.
  • Monitor contract compliance and handle contractual issues.
  • Prepare and submit valuations and payment certificates.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the assessment of contractual and commercial risks.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
  • Generate regular reports on project costs, progress, and financial status.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant internship or work experience in a construction-related role.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific software.
  • Knowledge of Irish construction regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
